The minimum gross base salary applicable as of 1 January 2020

The monthly amount of the minimum gross base salary at the national level guaranteed for payment corresponding to a regular working schedule has been increased from LEI 2,080 to LEI 2,230 starting with 1 January  2020, the relevant enactment being recently published within the Official Gazette[1].

The level of the minimum gross base salary at the national level has been frozen to LEI 2,350 per month for the personnel occupying positions which require a specific high education degree and having a minimum one-year work experience in the respective high education field.

Regarding the amount of the minimum gross base salary at the national level guaranteed for payment in the field of construction, the mentioned enactment does not bring any amendments, the said amount being established at LEI 3,000 per month for the period 1 January 2020 – 31 December 2028[2].

The recently published enactment maintains the previously established rule[3], stating that rights and obligations determined by law in consideration of the minimum gross salary at the national level guaranteed for payment shall be established in consideration of the monthly amount of LEI 2,230.
